Walks from the gate
The forest loops start outside the park entrance. Walking maps for the mountain lakes and the nature park are at reception, and the numbers match the sheet on the front page.

Forest loops
The park's looped walks start outside the entrance and run from beginner walks to something more challenging. The map draws one of the loops on the forest tracks north of the park, back along the lane.

Christ the King
Up to the Ballyhoura Way and east through the woods to the statue on the R664, which looks down the length of the valley.

Lough Muskry
A glacial lake in a bowl of the Galtees. The trail starts at a car park 17 minutes' drive east of the park. Wear boots, not runners, and bring lunch.

Galtymore
The top of the Galtees, from the Lough Curra car park 7 minutes' drive east, up past the lake. The climb is hard and often windy, so bring warm layers and rain gear.
Distances and climbs are measured on the OpenStreetMap paths and elevation data the front-page map is drawn from. Times allow 5 km an hour plus 10 minutes for every 100 m of climb. The Galtymore time is the park's own, and the longer Lough Muskry time is aherlow.com's.
When your legs want a day off
Four places within 50 minutes by car. Mitchelstown Cave is the one for a wet day. Times are routed on OpenStreetMap roads, without traffic.
