Ballinacourty House is a family-run caravan and camping park in the grounds of an 18th-century estate. The forest walks start outside the entrance, and the village is 15 minutes away on foot.

Ballinacourty, on the valley floor

The house is 18th century and the park sits in its grounds, looking across to the Galtee Mountains. There are 45 pitches, a courtyard and the estate's Victorian walled garden.

It's a 4-star, family-run park and it's not a party park: there's a noise curfew from 11pm to 8am, and bookings are for families and couples.

It's touring only, with no mobile homes, and the Irish Independent has rated it in its top 10.

Getting to the gate

  1. R664From Tipperary Town, south over the hill past the Christ the King statue, then west on the R663. About 13 minutes.
  2. M8Leave at junction 10 for Cahir, take the N24 toward Tipperary, then the R663 west into the Glen. About 26 minutes from the motorway.
